WOD at home

February 11, 2013

Hubby has been doing Crossfit for 5 or so years now and I have dabble, here and there but never really dedicated myself to working out hard!

Hubby and I had a gym membership, where I would maybe make it to the gym once a week {since winter}. It is hard to get three boys ready and into the gym in during winter. Excuse – YES. but have you tried to carry a baby car seat, hold hands of two other boys, while trying not to slip and FALL… HARD! It just was too hard for me. Hubby and I came up with a better way, more time efficient way to exercise and I canceled my membership!!!

Now that I am 30, I am taking control! I am just beginning with some of you. I am not a crossfit instructor or certified trainer. I simply will post workouts that I do at home that are based off crossfit workouts hubby and I find. I am getting fit with you!

If you have equipment, AWESOME! If not, no biggie! I am sure you have something around the house that will work!

EXAMPLES:

Kettle bells – I just got one. Before that I just used a dumb bell. Before that I used a water jug!
Weights – find anything. I have used soup cans before. No shame!
Box Jumps - Use something around the house or you can simply jump as high as you can but tape your knees with your hands
Pull ups- I use a band. I am working on pull ups still! I will get there. I put a resistance band on my hubbys pull up bar and either get in a lunge or sit on the floor. (I will take a video, if needed!)
Wall balls - you can do thrusters instead.

If you would like me to post my workouts on here, we can keep each other accountable! :) And, I will continue to post recipes, as well. Don’t worry!

WHO IS IN???? Who is interested???

Here is what I am doing today!
Please remember it is about form as well as speed. :)

5 rounds of:
20 sit-ups
20 squats

I am all about it! I got lucky and found a Groupon for one month at a local Crossfit gym and fell in love… It’s WAYYY too expensive for my and the boyfriend to go, but we have adjustable dumbbells, and a pull-up bar. and recently got a few bands an abmat and some lacrosse balls. We generally scale the WOD on the official crossfit site and substitute what we need to.

I’m a day late on this one. I’ll be honest (as I tend to be)… I looked at this and said “This will be an easy one” It was much more challenging than I thought. I made it in 11:30.2. My goal was under 10 min, so I’ll have to sit-up faster next time.
    Warm-up:
    15 sec Samson each side
    40 single unders
    10 OHS w/ PVC
    30 single unders
    30 sec plank
    20 single unders
    3 push-ups – I finally (re)graduated to *real* push-ups after 10+ yrs of knee ones.
    10 single unders
